I just got off the phone with a former client, someone I represented seven years ago.
Her son’s car had been parked on the street overnight. Sometime during the night, another vehicle slammed into the back of it and drove off. The car was a total loss.
Here’s the part that surprised even me. The license plate from the hit-and-run driver was actually embedded in the damaged vehicle.
She called me and asked, “What can we do?”
We talked it through. I explained the different scenarios, including insurance coverage, reimbursement, compensation, and what steps to take next. I also told her I’d be happy to speak directly with her son if he had questions or needed guidance.
And the truth is, I won’t make any money from this situation.
But that’s not why I took the call.
I took it because she trusted me enough to call after seven years, and because helping people, even when there’s no fee attached, is one of the most rewarding parts of being a lawyer.

I’m in the Relationship Business, Too
Over the years, I’ve received countless calls that start with:
“I don’t know if you remember me…”
And I always do.
In more than 32 years of practice, I’ve learned that when you handle a case the right way, you don’t just learn the facts. You learn the person. You learn about their family, their job, their interests, and what they’ve been through.
That’s how trust is built.
It’s earned during the representation, and it often lasts long after the case is over.
I’m grateful to every client who has come through my office. Many have stayed in touch. Some have become friends. I’ve attended happy moments and heartbreaking ones. I’ve seen clients become parents and grandparents. I’ve watched their kids graduate from high school and college. I’ve mourned losses with them.
Every case leaves a legacy, and every relationship matters.

Small Firm. Real Attorney. No Layers.
Running a small law firm isn’t easy. It never has been.
And in recent years, it has become even harder to compete, not because there aren’t enough people who need help, but because the legal industry has shifted toward something else entirely.
A lot of people now have a knee-jerk reaction to call the law firm they’ve seen repeatedly on television, heard on the radio, or watched on social media.
And I understand why.
Those firms spend millions of dollars on advertising. Their marketing is polished. Their stories are compelling. Their brand is everywhere.
I can’t compete with that model, and I won’t pretend I can.

Credit Where It’s Due
I’ve watched John Morgan and the Morgan & Morgan commercials for years.
I’ll admit, at first, I was annoyed. Their marketing budget, and the budgets of many of the other major advertising firms, is astronomical.
But over time, I’ve come to respect what he has built. He’s clearly talented, and his messaging works. If I were someone looking for a lawyer and I saw those ads constantly, I can see why I’d call too.
They’ve earned their success.

But Here’s the Difference
When you call a very large firm, who answers the phone?
Often, your first interaction is with an intake department, a call center, or a staff member trained to gather information and funnel your case into a system.
That may work for some people.
But that’s not how I practice law.
When you call my office, you speak directly with me.
Not a salesperson.
Not an intake specialist.
Not a rotating team of case managers.
Me.
And if I take your case, I handle it. I don’t pass you off to another attorney. I don’t hand you over to layers of staff. You don’t become a file number.
When it comes to your case, we’re a team, and I believe responsiveness and personal attention matter.

Advertising Doesn’t Win Cases. Lawyers Do.
There will always be marketing designed to influence your decision. You’ll see big settlement numbers, dramatic commercials, and “we’re the biggest” messaging.
But your case isn’t a commercial.
It’s your life. Your health. Your family. Your future.
You deserve an attorney who knows your name, knows your story, and takes the time to actually care.
Everyone wants a “guy” or “girl” they can call, someone they trust, and someone who will be there not just for one case, but for the long run.
That’s the kind of lawyer I’ve always tried to be.

If You Want a Lawyer You Can Actually Reach, I’m Here
If you want a firm built around marketing, you have plenty of options, and I understand that.
But if you’re looking for an experienced attorney who can aggressively pursue your case successfully, and who you may know for the rest of your life…
If you want someone you can call years later to “run something by”…
If you want to work with the lawyer whose name is on the door…
Then I’m your guy.
